Who can forget the Seagulls of Finding Nemo?
They aren’t evil, but their behavior is execrable. Their motivations are precisely those that our economics professionals ascribe to us in every particular of human society. They have no government and obey no rules.
This is the ideal society of neoliberalism, the end game it works to create, and there is no mistaking its utter unsuitability to a human society.
One of the things that becomes apparent in analyzing the behaviors of humans under the influence of the unreal money we have adopted, is that the selfishness of an Ayn Rand protagonist, and the “greed is good” mantra of Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas) in Wall Street, are natural results of the forces and motivations that that money creates in our society.
That we can do something different without changing that money, is something that I cannot imagine.
Yet we have to do something different or our human civilization will wreck itself on the rocks of environmental disaster.
